Some of my work is presented here in galleries named after the places of inspiration of the ideas including Tuscany, Italy, Scotland, islands and mainland, Lincolnshire and Cappadoccia and Turkey. I have recorded areas of Tuscany around Montepulciano over the last 20 years. It is a terrain I love and I return to observe in the different seasons.
I begin by working on site in a variety of mixed media comprising watercolour, pastel, pastel pencils, acquarelle pencils, charcoal, chalks, oil pastel and acrylic paint. Oil pastels are used to imitate the expression of the oil brush stroke. I use these studies to develop in oil paintings back in the studio, usually on a larger scale or complete fuller watercolours. Some of my patrons choose to buy the original studies when I have worked from them and made the paintings.

The subject of my painting ranges over landscape, portrait commissions, Church Environmental Design, workshops, projects and Textiles. You will experience my response to the elements of the landscape and geology of the natural environment through line, colour and texture.
Although I find I return to certain favourite themes, I am open to new influences and landscape experiences which result in spontaneous outcomes. Surprising colour and pattern in rocks, brooding misty glens, rugged cliff edges, setting out on water, the river estuary, the pools in sand after the retreating waves, old walls, natural paving stones, fruit of the land, the colour of the changing seasons are some of the many visual stimuli that inspire me.
Works are offered subject to availability at a competitive price reflecting complexity, materials and scale. Commissions are accepted especially if you have seen something on the web site which evokes kindred memories.
